Cloud as an enabler for Enterprise Architecture

Enterprise Architecture is needed to transform today's businesses and corporations into enterprises that have good data management programmes with real time insights into all of their processes. Enterprise Architecture envisages integration across business functions with long term strategy in mind. This is a top down approach.

Cloud computing with virtualization of shared resources has become an effective means for service integration across applications. This is more of a bottom-up approach.

Enterprise Architecture based designs could now be applied to enterprise level application integration using the cloud. This would bring about a convergence of 2 different philosophies of top-down design thinking with a vision and a bottom-up design thinking keeping in mind short term tactical advantages and necessities.

In effect, cloud would become an enabler for Enterprise Architecture.
